organic Italian grains, legumes and pasta

Agribosco was founded in 1989 by the Cinti family as an organic farming consortium. It is based in Sigillo, a small town in the province of Perugia in Umbria, and its member farms are spread across Umbria, Le Marche, Lazio, Tuscany, Molise and Puglia.

The farms grow to certified organic standards and sow heirloom seed varieties suited to each area's climate. Agribosco processes what they harvest and tracks the supply chain from field to package. Its range covers grains, legumes, flours and pasta.

Agribosco questions

What is farro?

Farro is the Italian name for grains from three old, hulled wheat species: einkorn, emmer and spelt. Hulled means each grain grows inside a tough husk that has to be removed after harvest. It is sold dried and boiled until tender, and it keeps a pleasant chew and works in salads, soups and stews.

What are the ancient seeds Agribosco farmers sow?

Ancient seeds are heirloom varieties: older strains of a crop, saved and replanted over many generations, that have adapted to the climate of one region. Agribosco's member farms sow only these varieties. A crop that has grown in the same place for a long time is suited to its soil and weather.
