Wostok Pine Needle traces its story to 1970s Moscow, where researchers attempting to develop a Soviet answer to Western cola instead created an unusually aromatic herbal soft drink. After disappearing with the fall of the Soviet Union, the recipe was rediscovered and revived in Berlin by Wostok.

Spruce needle oil, taiga root, yucca, eucalyptus-like botanicals, black tea extract, and a subtle suggestion of cardamom create a flavor that is resinous, gently spiced, and remarkably refreshing. Think of a walk through an evergreen forest transformed into a sparkling drink: woodsy and herbal, but balanced by soft sweetness and bright citrus acidity.

Serve well chilled as an adventurous alternative to conventional soda, or pair it with smoked meats, rich sandwiches, earthy cheeses, and boldly seasoned foods. Its botanical character also makes it an intriguing mixer for gin, vodka, or herbal liqueurs.
