An aromatic homage to the trade winds across the Indian Ocean, our golden Swahili Coast Curry is descended from thousands of years of culinary exchange. The spices in this Origin Blend are grown in an agroforestry system and then dried, ground and blended by our partner cooperative. We source our Curry blend from a cooperative of smallholder farmers on the Zanzibar islands off of the eastern coast of Tanzania.

Burlap & Barrel was born when co-founder Ethan Frisch tasted wild cumin in Afghanistan and realized that the spices in American kitchens were a pale shadow of what farmers actually produce. Since 2016, he and Ori Zohar have been building direct relationships with farmers worldwide, paying premium prices for spices of extraordinary quality. We carry the largest Burlap & Barrel selection in Denver because their spices are, simply, the best we have ever tasted.
