Collection: Letterfolk

Johnny and Joanna Galbraith started Letterfolk with a modern take on the vintage letter board, and moved from New York to Salt Lake City in 2015 to build it into paper and home goods too.

About Letterfolk

Known for
letter boards and the customizable Tile Mat

Johnny Galbraith worked as a copywriter and Joanna Galbraith as a copyeditor when the idea for Letterfolk began. After their second child was born, they used a vintage letter board to photograph her monthly milestones, then designed a modern version of their own. In 2015 they left New York for Salt Lake City to build the business, which grew into letter boards, paper goods and home goods.

The designs start from vintage pieces and update them with a minimalist look, and most are made to be changed: you arrange the words or the pattern yourself.

Letterfolk questions

What is a letter board?

A letter board is a board that holds loose letters, so you can spell out a message and change it whenever you like. Letterfolk began by taking the vintage letter board and redesigning it as a sleek, modern piece of wall decor. People use them for milestone photos, like the ones that started the company, and for messages at home.

Why is Letterfolk based in Salt Lake City?

Johnny and Joanna Galbraith met at Brigham Young University in Utah. When they left New York in 2015 to build the company, they chose Salt Lake City for its lower cost of living, its pool of talent and its emphasis on family. They have run the business there with a small team of women.
