Le Dolcezze Di Nanni questions
What are cantucci, and how do you eat them?
Cantucci are oblong Tuscan almond biscuits baked twice, which makes them dry and crunchy. That dryness is the point: they are made for dunking. In Tuscany they are traditionally dunked in vin santo or another sweet dessert wine. Le Dolcezze di Nanni also suggests them with tea, milk, cappuccino or coffee.
What are soft amaretti?
Amaretti are small, round Italian cookies with a strong almond flavor, usually made from almonds, sugar and egg white and baked in the oven. The best known kind is crunchy, but there is also a soft style, called morbidi in Italian. Le Dolcezze di Nanni makes the soft kind from almond paste, portioned by hand and pinched into shape one at a time.
