About Jaymes Paper

Based in
Santa Barbara, California
Known for
letterpress greeting cards

Jaymee Harney, the founder and designer, has made cards for family and friends since 1997, and all Jaymes Paper cards are designed in Santa Barbara. Printing is done by family-owned print shops in several states, on FSC-certified and recycled paper stocks.

The letterpress cards run on a Heidelberg Windmill, an antique press that has been around since the early 1900s. Each sheet is fed in and pressed one at a time, so the type and artwork are impressed into the paper.

Jaymes Paper questions

How are Jaymes Paper letterpress cards printed?

Letterpress is a printing method in which a raised, inked surface, such as type, is pressed directly onto paper. Jaymes Paper prints its letterpress cards on a Heidelberg Windmill, an antique press that has been around since the early 1900s. Each sheet is fed in and pressed one at a time, so the type and artwork are impressed, or pressed into the surface of the paper.

What does FSC-certified paper mean?

FSC stands for the Forest Stewardship Council, an international nonprofit that sets standards for responsible forest management. Independent certification bodies check forests and businesses against those standards, and chain of custody certification tracks certified material as it is made into products and shipped. Jaymes Paper says it uses FSC-certified and recycled paper stocks; on certified stock, the FSC label signals that the materials met FSC's chain of custody requirements.
